Today I read Mr Zaqy Mohamad’s (Minister of State for National
Development and Manpower, Singapore) post
‘One can only imagine the fear and anxiety felt by any worker who has
faced major injury on their prospects of returning to work.’
It is so true. Most injuries could have been prevented. Mostly because
we don’t give importance to the SOPs, the gear and equipments provided. And
just when you least expect it, it happens, A slight slip of the foot and we
trip. A little misjudgement of the weight and fingers get crushed under the
weight. A little distracted on the task and the thumb gets in the way of the
hammer.
All best laid out plans to finish the work on schedule gets pushed
behind. The worker suffers pain and agony. As a passionate advocator for SAFETY
precautions, all I can do is keep looking and promoting pragmatic,
easily implemented and cost effective solutions. Do it for your family as they
need you to be there for them.
Cheers!
